Can you tell me the purpose behind establishing the Hindustan Retreat Centre?
Along with the surreal backwaters of Kerala, the vast expanse of hills and virgin beaches around Kerala should be promoted to the travellers. Only recently the region of Wayanad has been marketed to travellers worldwide. Even Varkala is an underappreciated region. That’s why we have started the only retreat centre here. The Hindustan Retreat Centre is Varkala’s newest travel destination and we aim to provide the best hospitality in the industry. We want to meet international standards of service and quality to set a mark in the tourism industry of Kerala.
In what way can the digital age be useful for the tourism industry and are you planning to establish any similar products in the future ?
Technology is very important when it comes to the new age traveller. Catering to the generational markets requires us to develop products that can make their travel easier and convenient. We are also looking at ways to make transfer of funds quicker giving our travellers access to their funds when on a vacation.
Are you a part of any association or club ? What is your role and how do you contribute to the same?
We are a part of The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) that is a bridge between the Indian hospitality industry and international associations. Through various activities like research, training and education, the FHRAI is committed to the progress of the Industry.
How does the tourism industry attract domestic as well as international travellers to the untapped regions?
Almost 90 percent of the area is promoted by the government of Kerala. Through various roadshows and travel trade fests conducted in destinations all over the world, the untapped regions are brought into focus. Travel agents, hotels and industry experts are invited for these roadshows to discuss the scope of these regions, the needs of the place and what measures can be taken to make the regions appealing to the domestic as well as international travellers.
